Rules for Writing SEO-Friendly Content

No matter how high-quality the information on a web page is, if the page is not prepared with the correct methods, it will be quite challenging to attract organic visitors. These correct methods are also known as SEO rules. When the spider-like bots of search engines come to the page, they scan the page and derive a result according to their algorithms. Based on this result, they start displaying the page in search results. For this display to be at the top and for the page to attract more visitors, adhering to SEO rules will be necessary. In this article, we will share some rules about how to write content for a web page, or more precisely, how to write SEO-friendly content, which will appear in the top results of search engine queries and attract visitors.

Keyword

A keyword is the purpose of writing an article. A single main keyword must be used on each page. For instance, the main keyword for this article is determined as "SEO-friendly content." The designated main keyword should be used in certain proportions according to the length of the text. The main keyword used should neither be underused nor excessively used beyond a specified limit relative to the length of the text.

Using the main keyword excessively can be detrimental to SEO. When determining the main keyword to be used in the content, the main idea of the article should be utilized, and this main idea should be searched on search engines. Recommended search results or search suggestions can be used to identify the main keyword. This way, content can be created with keywords that are both frequently searched for and likely to bring more visitors to the top-ranking content.

Text Length

The content of a web page should be rich in text and provide information that satisfies the visitor. To achieve this, a sufficiently long text must be written. According to the standard rules of search engines for SEO-friendly content, a text of at least 300 words should be present in the page content. This is the minimum limit accepted by search engines. Do pages with less text appear in top rankings? Certainly. However, it is important here that the content of the page is entirely unique and entirely unique in its subject. For instance, if there is no information available on the internet about a topic and a 100-word text is written about it, search engines will rank that page first.

Aside from this scenario, the 300-word limit is often insufficient in highly competitive subjects. Therefore, texts containing well-structured information, without excessive repetition, and correctly using keywords might need to be 500, 700, 1000 words or more.

Supporting Keywords

When writing SEO-friendly content, the main keyword should be supported with supporting keywords. Supporting keywords should relate to the main keyword and appear in search results, although they are searched for less than the main keyword. For example, let the main keyword be "t-shirt models." In this text, while using the main keyword "t-shirt models," supporting keywords like "printed t-shirt models," "v-neck t-shirt models," or "bicycle collar t-shirt models" should also be used.

This approach will not only attract visitors from the main keyword but also ensure the display of the content in search results for supporting keywords. When determining supporting keywords, following the recommended search results of search engines is advised. These can be found, for example, at the bottom of a page on Google. Relevant keywords related to the text in these suggested search results can be used as supporting keywords.

Tags

A web page should not be prepared with the approach of "let's reveal everything we have." Because when the bots of search engines enter the page, they do not see the page as people do; they see the HTML code structure of the page. Therefore, when writing SEO-friendly content, it is necessary to use HTML tags correctly.

For instance, for SEO-friendly content, at least one H1 tag must be used. This is the main title of the article. Below this title, H2 and H3 tags should be used hierarchically. Supporting keywords should be in bold, and if there is text taken from another site, it should appear in italics on the page. When adhering to this structure, the bots of search engines will read the page correctly and rank the compliant text in the top positions.

Visuals and Linking

Another point to pay attention to when preparing SEO-friendly content is visuals. There must be at least one image on the page. The alt tags and names of the images should be shaped according to the keywords. Pages that properly feature images are more valuable than those without images. Another point is linking. The algorithms of search engines find it appropriate to add links within the page to the site and to place a maximum of 2 links from other sites. It is recommended not to use links, especially external links, from sites that may damage the reputation of the site. Linking is an essential point, and improper linking can significantly damage all the correctly configured SEO settings of a page.

SEO-friendly content is essential for a web page. By adhering to these rules and other SEO rules, a web page will definitely appear on the first page. As a result, organic visitors will be obtained. Depending on the purpose of the website, these visitors will benefit the site owner in various ways.
